Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart, an expert in surround sound technology, mixed American Beauty for DVD-Audio release. In the process, many previously buried vocals and instruments came to the surface, and several songs were extended significantly by removing the original fades. In addition, the disc includes an exclusive video interview with Hart and bandmate Bob Weir, as well as complete lyrics and a gallery of rare photos.
This DVD-Audio release has been mixed from the original multitrack master tapes to create the best, most dynamic sound possible.
