(Not Avaiable with promotional code or gift card)Plays on Universal DVD Player or SACD or regular CD player If ans of this great singer will no doubt dive quickly into this latest release now available on SACD. But if the audience is limited to just those it would truly be a shame as this is both sonically and artistically a wonderful effort from a team of music lovers. Not having a long history in opera and opera singers, I obtained a ticket from a friend who could not attend his concert in New Jersey last year. It was an eye opener and Andrea has a charisma and devotion to his craft that is abundant both in his passion and execution. This album is one of several I've heard and overall the best for its balanced approach to the art and also due to the selection of songs. It is not syrupy sentimental despite the title. The delivery is matched by the accompanying music superbly, to a degree not heard on other works such as Romanza and Toscana. Elevating this work to SACD puts it by far in the top five of my small collection of 60 titles. Not to be missed and it must be heard in its entirety. A masterpiece.

(Not Avaiable with promotional code or gift card)Plays on Universal DVD Player or SACD or regular CD player It's no mean feat being the world's foremost crossover artist--a task that risks alienating two disparate audiences and everyone in between--but [I>somebody had to do it, and Andrea Bocelli again walks that artistic tightrope with impressive deftness. The title may imply a casual intimacy (indeed, the singer admits to taking a more "hands-on" approach to the album's conception and production), but it's a collection that nonetheless continues to expand on the Italian tenor's ambitious internationalism. His collaboration "Sin Tu Amor" immerses his voice in the Gipsy Kings' own rich Iberian folk-pop fusion with compelling results, while "Where Love Goes" (a musical focal point of the film Lazarus Child), his English language duet with 11-year-old prodigy Holly Stell, achieves an almost liturgical grace. "Tu Ci Sei" (You Are There) continues in the romantic vein of his familiar theme "Con Te Partiro" (Time to Say Goodbye), while the single "Dell' Amore Non Si Sa" (With Love You Never Know) features Bocelli in a signature dramatic tour de force collaboration with arranger Mauro Malavasi, the accomplished producer of the singer's Romanza and Sogno albums. Bocelli's shrewd taste and vocal prowess here not only again redeem an oft-maligned genre, but elevate it considerably in the bargain

(Not Avaiable with promotional code or gift card) I was not really in country music before I hit this genre via Alison Krauss & Union Station on SACD. Lee Ann Womack's Greatest Hits is another great compilation of great county songs and also a proofpoint that this genre takes care of audiophile sound quality.

(Not Avaiable with promotional code or gift card) Some of the Transfer's best records have been themed, such as [I>Brasil and Vocalese. However, their biggest commercial successes have come from albums like Extensions and Mecca for Moderns, recordings that highlighted the genre-hopping versatility of the vocal quartet and yielded big pop hits along with it. This album falls into the latter category. The previous five decades are harmonically represented throughout these 11 tracks, including traditional '40s vocal styling on "Embraceable You," a classic '50s doo-wop medley, and some Beach Boys-styled psychedelic '60s pop on "Feel Flows." They've always excelled at jazz, and do so here with lyrics by Jon Hendricks to melodies from Horace Silver and Marcus Miller. But it's the group's forays into the 21st century via songs by Brenda Russell and Rufus Wainwright that really stand out.

With hits on the pop, jazz, and R&B charts, vocalist Natalie Cole can choose the career path that suits her at the moment. For her past few releases she has chosen to follow in the footsteps of her father, the late Nat King Cole, giving songs a jazz reading but seldom straying from the popular appeal of '50s artists like Sarah Vaughan, Dinah Washington, and Ella Fitzgerald. On her first release for Verve, Cole comes straight out of the jazz standards tradition. The singer is backed by jazz players -- guitarist Russell Malone, bassist Christian McBride, drummer Lewis Nash, pianist Joe Sample, and, on two cuts, the Clayton-Hamilton Orchestra -- but Ask a Woman Who Knows is anything but standard.....

Personnel: Lionel Richie (vocals); Daniel Bedingfield (vocals); Chieli Minucci (guitar); Lenny Kravitz (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, piano, drums, background vocals); Chuckii Booker (piano, keyboards, programming); Mark Smith (bass instrument); Tawatha Agee (background vocals). Recording information: 2004. Lionel Richie's talent for crafting picture-perfect pop songs cannot be understated. In fact, his remarkable success during the 1970s and '80s, as both the leader of the Commodores and a solo artist, often overshadows his reputation as a remarkably deft songwriter. His singles--"Hello," "Still," and "Sail On," for example--could seem subdued and simple, but they each contained a certain melancholy mood and stories within stories, like successively smaller Russian dolls. After virtually vanishing for over a decade following his multi-platinum record DANCING ON THE CEILING, he resurfaced in the late '90s. JUST FOR YOU is the third album by this reborn Lionel Richie, and it finds him getting comfortable in his new mode, which is refreshingly close to the pop classics he penned years before. The album is stocked full of simple yet multifaceted pop songs swimming in hooks; there's a dash of R&B from his old days, especially on the jazzy, funky "Do Ya," but, for the most part, Richie sticks to his trademark brand of adult-contemporary pop.

This Super Audio CD 1 is something you'll want to go back to again and again, as there are tons of fascinating little sonic details that pop up in the surround mixes, so that no one single listening is the same. "Closer" is a real highlight, with its swirling 'motorcycle' treated guitar (slide?) zooming around from speaker to speaker.

What a great album! My first exposure to Dinah Washington was as a teenager after hearing the title cut of this album on the radio. While Dinah never quite earned the level of respect jazz music lovers that Billie, Ella and Sarah had, she is sufficiently talented to rank among these superstars. Dinah ventured more into pop music than these other jazz divas too, having collaborated with Brook Benton to record three songs appearing in the Billboard Top 40 charts in 1959 & 60. As a teenager, I owned all of the charted hits she made alone and with Benton.
