Review: In my opinion, "METAMORPHOSIS" is nothing less than an outstanding album! Many of the song tracks listed here were recorded live while the others are comprised of many studio outtakes.

Review: The covers on this 1965 gem are a bit more obscure than on the Stones' first two long-players, not a bad thing for a band still getting its writing chops together (if admirably; "Heart of Stone" and "Surprise, Surprise" are particularly strong). If there were still doubts that these London kids had any business playing this music, a casually scorching "Down the Road Apiece" should have allayed them; the stomp they lay on Bo Diddley's "Mona" and Jagger's lazy drawl on the New Orleans obscurity "Down Home Girl" make for canny mood changes. ROLLING STONES "Between The Buttons" SACD (UK) Review: The Rolling Stones' 1967 recordings are a matter of some controversy; many critics felt that they were compromising their raw, rootsy power with trendy emulations of the Beatles, Kinks, Dylan, and psychedelic music. Approach this album with an open mind, though, and you'll find it to be one of their strongest, most eclectic LPs, with many fine songs that remain unknown to all but Stones devotees.

Plays on all CD players and Universal SACD players This album was spawned by three coinciding events -- the need to acknowledge the death of band co-founder Brian Jones (whose epitaph graces the inside cover) in July of 1969; the need to get "Honky Tonk Women," then a huge hit single, onto an LP; and to fill the ten-month gap since the release of Beggars Banquet and get an album with built-in appeal into stores ahead of the Stones' first American tour in three years.

Review: That said, if you've never liked this Stones album, you probably won't like this release of it, but if you're in on the joke and appreciate it for what it is, pick it up immediately
