S2-881589 - Big Country "FFront Row...Live" 5.1 DTS DVD AUDIO
Category: CLASSIC ROCK
Scottish band Big Country reflected all the giddy, open-hearted optimism of the 1980s, with their gigantic barn-raising anthems and airborne '80s hair. Late of the seminal Scottish punk band the Skids, Stuart Adamson formed Big Country as an outlet for his poppier songcraft and distinctively textured guitar style. Their first album, 1983's THE CROSSING, was a hit in both the U.K. and the U.S., thanks to the smash single "In a Big Country." The band continued to release strong albums into the late '90s, and their popularity remained consistent in Europe if not the U.S. However, Adamson's alcoholism and chronic depression proved to be fatal to both the band and himself. He committed suicide in 2001, ending the band's glorious tenure.

WA47620 - JONI MITCHELL"Both Sides Now" DTS DVD-AUDIO
Category: CLASSIC ROCK
Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell is one of the legendary innovators of pop and folk music. After starting a career on the coffeehouse circuit of the 1960's, she continued on a long and prolific path through hippie icon, 1970's stadium performances, and jazz experimentation. BOTH SIDES NOW beautifully captures Joni Mitchell's sultry voice as she performs jazz-influenced love songs from different decades while backed by a 70 piece orchestra. The Advanced Resolution surround sound of the DVD-Audio gives songs like "Both Sides Now," "You're My Thrill," and "Stormy Weather," entirely new fullness.

WA48533 - NEIL YOUNG "Greendale" 5.1 DTS DVD AUDIO
Category: CLASSIC ROCK
Neil Young is no stranger to experimentation, having devoted entire albums to electronic music, rockabilly, and even, as on the live Arc disc, unadorned feedback. Even by his standards, however, this concept album is pretty demanding....

WA48435 - Steely dan "Everything Must Go" 5.1 DTS DVD-AUDIO
Category: CLASSIC ROCK
After a 20-year layoff, Steely Dan returned in 2000 with TWO AGAINST NATURE. In the face of that double-decade layoff, the three-year wait for EVERYTHING MUST GO seems like a drop in the bucket. Like its predecessor, EVERYTHING harkens back to the classic '70s Dan jazzy pop sound, with some minor adjustments. The bluesy Walter Becker guitar leads that were a key element of TWO AGAINST NATURE are even more prevalent here (Becker even takes a lead vocal this time around), and the earlier album's harmonically simpler song structures and arrangements are pared down a bit further here. Other than that, it's blessedly business-as-usual for Becker and his accomplice Donald Fagen. When they're not looking askance at drug culture, the digital era, and the onset of old age, they're waxing satirical about sexual/social dynamics, and on the title track, providing the perfect, biting-but-poignant anthem for the post-9/11, post-Internet boom economic tumble. Guest appearances by jazz hotshots pianist Bill Charlap and saxman Chris Potter add melodic interest, but it's Becker and Fagen's gloriously twisted worldview that remains the fulcrum of the action.

WA47612 - ERIC CLAPTON/ BB KING "Ridding W/ King" DTS DVD A
Category: CLASSIC ROCK
When it comes to the greatest rockin' bluesmen in history, at the top of the electrified traditional list is B.B. King; at the top of the contemporary list is Eric Clapton. In late 2000, "Riding with the King" brought the two living legends together for an entire album for the first time. The result debuted at #3 pop, won the Grammy for Best Traditional Blues Album and went double platinum. When it comes to rockin' blues, "Riding with the King" is as great as it gets.
